I'm really looking forward to Noise Noise Noise on Saturday! Daniel can't make it as he has uni deadlines coming up tha require his full attention. So in his place I've got Our Man Fred one half of the dj duo that run the excellent Jumping with Elbows which is actually moving to Catch in June. As always I'll be there, in fact I turned down a slot on BBC radio (long story) and a £200 gig (even longer story) for my night. Anyway now for some tunes
Dirteblonde - Niagara
First up Dirtblonde from Liverpool. They sound like an even punkier more energetic version of the Jesus and Mary Chain. Also hints of the Kills, or maybe I'm just being lazy as there's two of them and they use distorted guitars. Album on 'Filthy Little Angels' coming out next week I think.
ddd - Can't Explain
ddd is really something else. Listening to his first single 'Can't Explain' you just have to wonder just how someone can sit down and come up with something so different, edgy and brilliant. I asked him once and apparently the answer is "insomnia, coffee and trying to sound nothing that's ever been made before." You can buy his second single here and the next single (the amazing Trojan Horse/Wall to Wall) is out very soon on White Heat Records.
From the ashes of Snow White come Mae West. After nearly a year they've finally released a demo. I don't think they would want me to release their demo just yet, so go over to their myspace and have a listen. 'Times of Silence' is my personal favourite. They sound like the Lemonheads with distortion pedals.
Finally they should play this video before the start of every movie in the cinemas.

Speaking of Mae West, well, the other Mae West, the dead one, there is an exciting and popular new group on Yahoo called The Judy Garland Experience. The group features ultra rare audio files, rarely seen photo’s, lively discussions and more! This week in the audio section we are featuring a rare 50’s concert presentation where the entire Rat Pack joined Judy onstage for their usual hijinx, Judy’s complete 1967 concert on The Boston Common, several other garland audio odds and ends, and if that isn’t enough we are also featuring excerpts from a rare 1973 concert performance by Mae West, yes, I said Mae West (you will just have to visit the group to find out why).
We have members from all levels of Judy fandom, hardcore, newbie’s, Garland family members, people who knew and worked with Judy, authors, historians, film makers, other celebrities, and more. The only thing missing is you! Please stop by our little Judyville and check it out, you may never want to leave!
