I bet every 20 something that ever watched Ren & Stimpy during their youth has used the same joke for their first blog post. For those of you who are unaqainted with Ren & Stimpy watch this:
Good Times.
Speaking of good times the Noise Noise Noise clubnight is this Saturday featuring Untitled Musical Project and Get Crucial Live! To celebrate we have a track from each band for you all of you to enjoy.
Untitled Musical Project - Why Isn't Paul McCartney Dead Yet?
I booked them to play back at White Light almost a year ago. A few weeks later they were signed to White Heat Records and released a triple A side featuring 'Why Isn't Paul McCartney Dead Yet?' So why isn't he dead yet? Maybe its all the vegan food, or the drugs. Either/or. Anyway, this song is typical of greatness and brutality of UMP. The sheer energy the put into their live performances has to be seen. There are few bands out there who really go wild during their sets but UMP are certainly one of them.
Get Crucial - Planes
I booked this band on the strength of this one song. It's raw, wild, full of distortion and feedback, you know, it's everything music should be! They also have a full set of songs just as strong to back them up. I saw them at the Luminaire suporting Future of the Left and they were quite simply amazing. Turn up early and listen out for their song 'Telephonaphobia' which is another one of my favourites.
Future of the Left - Fingers Become Thumbs!
mclusky are an obvious influence for both bands so I thought I would chuck in Future of the Left's new single. They use keyboards in their new songs too, strange but it works!
Loney, Dear - Saturday Waits
Something a little lighter. 'Loney, Dear' has released one of the best albums of...well..technicaly 2005, but it's been re-issued on Sub Pop recently. Go out and buy 'Loney, Noir' from your local Rough Trade.
That's enough for now. The next post will probably have a more electro feel to it. There will be regular posts from either me, Tom or Daniel. Keep checking back or go to our myspace for an update. I hope to see you all down on Saturday night!
