To the East!

I'm really glad Blood Red Shoes are getting all 'big' now. I really rate this band and their live performances are some of the best you can see in the UK. The problem was that their records couldn't quite transfer the energy of the band live into a recorded format. I know some people who would say they would be one of those bands who just weren't good enough but I always thought that if they could get the right production then they could make an amazing record. Their new single 'It's Getting Boring By the Sea' is probably the best one they've put out yet. Even though is still doesn't quite give the full Blood Red Shoes live experience it comes very close. The drums could be much louder. Those of you who've stood at the front of a Blood Red Shoes gig know what I mean.

Talking of Blood Red Shoes I read this interview on playlouder where Steven says he doesn't like Comanechi's music. Now I find this odd because I first met Steven when they supported Comanechi at White Heat and then back in WHOREfest '06 I remember we were watching Comanechi and talking about how great they were. Very Odd.

Next up Los Campesinos! covering a rather obscure Pavement song. If anyone should cover Pavement it should be Los Campesinos! actually probably My Sad Captains could do a better job (they're ace, go buy their 7 inch!) Speaking of seven inch records Los Campesinos! have just released "you! me! dancing!" which you should also buy.

Los Campesinos! - Frontwards

Finally an album track off of 'No Shouts, No Calls' by Electrelane. For those of you unaqauinted with their music think Sonic Youth, Neu, and the Velvet Underground all mixed together. It's a great album, I'd say the lead track would be 'To the East.' For the trivia fans among you this song contains a sample of a match between Hertha BSC Berlin and FC Moskva!

I don't proof read my posts

Exams have kept me quite busy so I've been relatively out of the loop with regards to new music.

Voxtrot are finally releasing an album! It's out now and it's great. Builds on the sound we're used to from their various EPs with a slightly heavier faster sound but still keeping that soft nice feel to the songs. Kid Gloves is probably the best track off the album. I reckon its got dance floor potential, maybe you'll hear it at the club on the 16th.

1990s are flying the flag for good british guitar bands. Great album regardless of how bad the last single was. Here's a nice album track for you.

1990s - Switch

Liars, one of my favourite bands of all time, have announced that they're going to release a new album later this year. Apparently it will feature more traditional songs and also guitar solos! Here's a nice b side from 'It Fit When I was a Kid.' Ambient noise.

Liars - Bingo! Count Draculuck

Finally I played "The Money Will Roll Right In" at the club last month and lots of people had never heard of the song. One person even came up to me and thanked me for playing Mudhoney. Although Mudhoney did cover it the original is by a Californian punk band called "Fang"
